What Changed My Worship Part 2

#2 I brought emotion into my worship.

For some this is a no-brainer, but for many others emotion in worship is at best taboo. You don't believe me? Just look out into most audiences on a weekend.

I believe we need to bring emotion into our worship, not for emotion sake, but for relational sake. Think about it this way- any relationship without emotion is stale, boring, and lifeless.

I have heard some people say (most of the times it's a guy)," Well Pace, I am just not a real emotional person. I am just sort of an even keel, straight over the plate kind of guy." And I get that, sort of. I know some people are less expressive than others. Interestingly enough if you get this same guy in front of his favorite football team or let him catch a 10lb bass, all of sudden he is through the roof emotional!

Sometimes I wonder if the lack of emotion in our worship is a matter of whether or not we have allowed God to capture all of our hearts. Even the part of our hearts that loves football and fishing.

What Changed My Worship- Part 1

The next several posts I want to share a few things that changed my worship.

#1  I connected what I already knew to be true about Jesus to what I was singing to Jesus.

All to often in our worship we are plagued with short term memory in regards to who Jesus is, what He has done in our lives, and what we know to be true of Him in the Word.  So what do we do?  We come to worship wanting a "new word" or a "fresh experience"  We often act as if we are starving spiritually when in actuality if we would stop for a minute and recover just a fraction of what we know to be true of Jesus we would discover that in our very hearts and minds is a spiritual feast.

The next time you worship, take a minute and recover in your mind and heart what you know to be true of Jesus and armed with those truths bring Jesus your most excellent, outrageous worship.

I Am Back

I have bee on a bit of a blogging break, but I am back.  My wife and I are still in the process of settling in to our new house.  We have walls to paint, land to mow, and rooms to fill with furniture and decorate.  My boys are loving the new place.  Their days are spent outside looking for frogs and lizards, playing in the barn, and tormenting their momma.  My little girl is right in middle of it all.  God has blessed us greatly with this house and we look forward to leveraging it to bless others.  Friday we are having a few friends over from our church for a guys night out of camping.

On the Church front, we just started a series called "One Prayer."  Ed spoke this past weekend to kick it off.  We saw a ton of people give their lives to Jesus.  That's what this Church thing is all about.  We also just opened our Retreat Center, Allaso Ranch.  This place is amazing!! I have seen just about every camp and retreat center in the United States, and this one I have to say is at the top of the list.  Check This Out!  I can't wait to see what God is going to do through this place.  If you are a Pastor and want to take your team away for a team building get away or retreat, check into Allaso Ranch.

Our media team has spent the last several weeks intalling all the AVL at Allaso Ranch.  These guys amaze me!  Thanks guys for your commitment to the House.  In your serving you are sowing into the live of so many.

I plan on doing a video blog later to show what gear we installed at the Ranch. Also, a lot of you have asked if I would post a few Scripts so you can see an example of what we include.  Here you go.
